Opportunities for Young Designers this Summer

One of the many hats I wear is member of Minneapolis Community and Technical College’s advisory committee. It’s one that I’m proud to sport, since MCTC is responsible—even more than my undergraduate college—for the success in my career today.

So I was thrilled to hear from the Dean of Academic Affairs today that for the first time ever, the college will be offering summer camps for students 13 years old and over. Not just any camps, either: they’ve got some great camps for aspiring architects, graphic designers, fashion designers and more!

This is a great opportunity for teens to “try out” different career types as well as experience what it’s like to attend a college right in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Can you help me spread the word to kids who may be interested? Here are some specifics (or download their flier with registration information here):

This course is designed to take you through the creative process used by architects and designers. During this four-day
course, you will learn about the design process and design a space or object of your own. You will use a software program to
create a 3D computer model of your design and then present your finished product to the class. You will also tour an architectural
office and meet with professionals from the industry.
